• Jan Dijkwell Instructor and Choreographer

In addition to Justine, Jan Dijkwell is a welcome addition to the New Albany School of Ballet and Dance Arts. He will be teaching ballet technique and partnering in addition to some choreography for the older students. Jan Dijkwel has been an Associate Professor of Dance at Brigham Young University for nine years. Upon completion of his BFA in Ballet Performance in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Jan performed extensively with the Dutch National Ballet and toured internationally with the company.

Following an invitation of the Albanian Minister of Culture, he taught, choreographed and consulted for the Tirana Opera Ballet, Tirana College of Arts and the Albanian Academy of Arts.

Jan has choreographed and received national and international acclaim with specific mention of the award winning show by the Branson Singers at the Country Tonite Theatre in Branson, Missouri, and multiple contenders in the Prix de Lausanne competition in Switzerland. His work has been performed in Europe, Asia and the United States. Jan teaches and choreographs annually in Japan and directs the Summer Ballet Workshops for Brigham Young University.

Jan received his MA in Dance Movement Therapy from Medical College Pennsylvania - Hahnemann University and is a Dance Therapist Registered (DTR.) His background reflects his interests in dance and health. Jan is a guest teacher at Ballet West and is a sought after consultant/coach for dancers from Ballet West and international dance competitions. He is an advisory panelist for the Utah Arts Council. Jan is married to Sayuri; they have four children.
